Treating Shoulder Pain - Twickenham Chiropractic

Some conditions can linger and last longer than others, tendon related pain being a common example of this. Chronic pain is defined as any pain lasting longer than 3 months, and typically the longer a condition has lasted for, the longer it can take to get better, and therefore it is less likely to respond to traditional non-invasive treatment.

Shockwave Therapy in essence helps to boost the healing process by delivering high intensity acoustic waves into the painful tissue. This process stimulates cell growth and regeneration of the muscles and tendons that are responsible for pain.

Shockwave Therapy is extremely effective with some patients reporting significant relief after only 1 session. It is recognised by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) as an ethical and evidence based treatment modality for various stubborn soft tissue conditions such as tendinitis and tendinosis.

An Initial consultation is always carried out to make sure Shockwave Therapy is suitable for your condition. If we believe you are suitable we will always recommend a programme of 3 consecutive treatments (usually 1 x a week) as a minimum starting point. We will answer any questions you have, explain the treatment process, expected treatment outcomes and give any relevant self-care advice.

If there is time to do so, your first Shockwave Therapy treatment can be carried out on your first visit and then a further two visits will be scheduled. After your third session we will always discuss your progress and give any further recommendations.

The treatment itself is noisy and can be a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. Shockwave treatment is quick and effective and typically lasts 10-15 minutes.

Shockwave Reviews

Paula R.
Lee and the team are great. Having been injured for many months with back problems I visited Twickenham Chiropractic Health Centre where Lee started treating me. It soon became apparent that the issue was my Achilles heel and Lee suggested we try Shockwave treatment on it. The result was unbelievable and after only three sessions not only am I back running my weekly 5K run but I have also completed a 10K and a tri this summer. I couldn't recommend it enough even for "old" injuries. Thank you Lee and teamread more

Not long ago I was suffering with prolonged shoulder pain that was aggravated by everyday activities. An MRI scan confirmed bursitis and tendinosis. A colleague introduced me to Shockwave Therapy and after 4 sessions I experienced incredible pain relief to the point where it was almost miraculous! After this experience I knew that investing in Shockwave Therapy at TW Chiro would be a great asset.
